Rosie to stay on The View

Link: For anyone who watches The View they would be able to tell you that the show has changed quite a bit since Rosie O’Donnell joined the cast. Since being there she has caused a lot of commotion on the set. Many people have said that she has been rude to her guests and I can remember watching the show once and agreeing with the writers. She had someone from a reality show on and she didnt hold back on telling him how she thought he was disgusting and an embarresment to his mother. Going through my head when I saw this was, “he will definitly never come on this show again.” For the people who were wondering, Rosie is defintitly coming back for another round saying “Im not going anywhere”. Although she may be bring up controversal agruments with people, its the viewers that are bringing her back. It is reported that Novembers viewings have been 15% higher then any other year. My personal opinion on the topic is that Rosie needs to calm down, it seems like she does alot of this for attention. Shes trying to impress people because it is her first time on tv since The Rosie Show and she wants the show to do good. I like Rosie but she just needs to take her excitment about things down a little. I think that she is a much better host on the show then Star Jones ever would be, she has a lot better personality then Jones.

Lindsay Lohan in AA

Link: This past week we were all notified by Lindsay Lohans publicist that Miss Lohan is attending AA meetings. For myself it was not a big shocker when finding out about her new daytime activity. You can always except to read about her and her weekend of fun in the latest issue of UsWeekly or InTouch. The starlet, who only turned 20 in July, has always had a reputation for being a party girl. You can always expect to see Lindsay and her posse, Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton, gathering at the hottest night clubs in LA or New York. I think its brave of Lindsay to let people know that she is trying to clean up her act. This could give the media a better view on her and make them start to beleive she might be trying to grow out of her party girl stage. For many celebrities going into AA or rehab is very common. Her fellow partier Nicole Richie was in rehab a few years ago having to deal with drugs, and by the looks of her maybe should be checking into a facility about her on going problem on not eating. Maybe Im wrong about her having a eating disorder but it seems like the girl needs some professional help. I hope these meetings help Lindsay, she is a good actress and she shouldnt let her partying hold her down.

Kelly Ripa and Rosie O’Donnel get into an argument

Link: On Friday Clay Aiken was guest host to Kelly Ripa on the show Regis and Kelly. During the show there was a moment when Aiken went to close Ripas mouth with his hand and Ripa replyed with a “Thats a no-no” and “I dont know where that hand has been honey”. Rosie O’Donnell who is one of the host on The View shot back at Ripa saying she was being homophobic. Angry and mad at this comment Ripa then called into The View telling Rosie that she was not in any way being homophobic, she just didnt want to catch any germs from him. Rosie kept telling Kelly that coming from a gay person it seemed homophobic. Aiken hasnt said anything about the incident but Kelly didnt seem very happy with his behavior on the show.

    This whole argument was so stupid and annoying. Rosie O’Donnell should really mind her own business. I could see if Clay was mad about the comment but there should be no reason why Rosie is. What if she was in Kellys position, she might have done the same thing. I think if there is anyone questioning Aikens sexuality its Rosie. She is the one that brought up the whole questioning about whether he is gay or not, not Ripa. I think that it was very impressive of Kelly Ripa to call into The View and confront Rosie about this. It shows that she is standing by her reasoning and she looks like the better person in my eyes.

Nickel and Dimed

I know this blog is really late but it took me awhile to read the book. Reading Nickel and Dimed gave me good insight on how people living on only a minimum wage paycheck get by. The woman in the story took a break from her comfortable living as a reporter and instead resided to minimum wage jobs to get the feel of how some people have to live. Working in places like Wal Mart and hotels she realized that working only one job was not going to get her far. Working for only $6-$7 in America is not enough to let you afford everything you need in order to live. I have mixed feelings on situations like this. I do feel bad for the people that have to work numerous jobs to just make it but could it be there fault? Is it there fault they arent working for a higher wage? Maybe they didnt go to college and higher their education, or maybe they did and all they could get on that education was a job working as a waitress. Looking at homeless people I always tend to feel bad for them but then I have to remind myself that they probably did that to themselves. They could get off the streets and go get a job at a place like Wal Mart. And for the people on welfare, there should be no reason that otehr people have to be paying for people on welfare. Go get another job its not our fault you dont have enough money. On the other hand I do think that America is getting expensive to live in. The things that we have to pay for from our taxes is alittle over the edge. I think the government could limit themselves to things and make our taxes lower.

OJ Simpson tells how he would kill his wife

Link: In a recent news article found on yahoo.com OJ Simpson says he will have a special broadcasted interview on how he would have killed his wife. In 1994 Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman were found dead and lots of fingers were pointed at OJ Simpson. In 1997 he was found not guilty and was there for let of the hook. Many people still believe that he was the one who killed the victoms but no one will really find out. The special program is basically him telling the world on the way that he would have killed his wife.

    I think this is one of the most bizarre things that someone could actually do in public. Why would someone broadcast yourself and explain to people your techniques on killing people. Who actually has come up with a way of killing people. If this doesnt scream insanity I dont know what does. Although I may seem very negative toward Simpson I actually believe that he didnt kill his wife. I just dont think he would be smart enough to get himself out of it.

    This special interview will be aired on a two days Nov. 27th and 29th.

Hunger as Idealogy

    This reading was interesting, it had to do with women and their role with food. Going into the story it is about females and how common eating disorders are with them. For many people, especially females, once you get into the cycle of not eating or binging and purging it is very hard to stop yourself. Doctors have said that it takes 10 years to actually fully recover from an eating disorder.
 The next few pages were mainly about women and their role in cooking and food. IN most families the wife is the one who is making dinner. But in our society today you find alot of husbands cooking in the kitchen as well. I know that my mom likes to get a break every once in awhile from cooking and my dad will try and cook something. Womens role in the public has risen so much since the 50s and 60s to the point where we can have the same jobs as most males. Senator Hilary Clinton once said “Well, I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas…” After saying this many people criticized her and used that to say that she didnt have traditional maternal values. To prove some people wrong she baked her favorite oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I think Clinton was just trying to show that women dont have to locked up in the kitchen, they can prove themselves in things like business or politics.

Britney files for divorce from KFed- FINALLY!

Link: After months and months of speculation Britney Spears has filed for divorce from her husnabd of two years, back up dancer and rapper Kevin Federline. The couple, who have two children together, have decided to end the marriage due to the oh so surprising excuse of “irreconcilable differences.” Spears, who had a previous quickie marriage to old time friend Jason Alexander, was the one who intiated the divorce. Full custody of the children is not in order yet but it seems as though both parents are trying to get full custody. In a recent episode of MTV’s TRL there was a report that Kevin found out about the divorce through a email over a dinner in New York. One of the reasons for the divorce was said to be over a dinner that Spears and Federline were suppose to attend, but Federline stood Spears up.  Speaking for myslef I have been waiting for this break up since the day they got together. Ever since their relationship started Britney has lowered herslef and in my eyes looked like white trash. Im still pulling for Justin and Britney so hopefully in the next few months there were be headlines on the Justin Timberlake and Cameran Diaz split.

5 year old takes pic of condor

link: the current event that i chose to do was on a 5 year old boy that took a picture of a condor. A condor is a rare bird that hasnt been seen since 1898. The odd thing about this article is the way the five year old was speaking. “I’d never seen that kind of bird before,” Gabriel said. “I tried to
take it on the tree, but it moved. I followed it by accident and got it
in midair. My dad helped me get the picture out of the camera and into
the printer.”   This kid is five years old, in kindergarten, this was shocking that he even knew how to use a camera. The cool thing about this was that the bird hasnt been seen in over a hundred years and someone only five years old was able to capture it. Some how he knew to take a picture of the bird and now he and this photograph is going down in history.

The Smokehouse Inn

    Alot of this story had to do with class position and common discussion. Basically the same group of people every night go to the town bar, The Smokehouse Inn, and talk about things like politics. Jack, the main character, is the nonofficial leader of the group. He is the voice that starts the convos and has no problem starting debats. The writer of this piece was actually the bartender who listened in as the discussion took place. This story reminded me alot of places around where I live. There are alot of small bars that you see the same people in everyday. I think that the people in the story and also places like The Smokehouse Inn continue going to the bars because they like having that common interest in things. Your not going to find people who enjoy talking about politics in a sports bar. Its just about having common interests and enjoying the people you are around.

    I think that the reason why people go to places like bars every night is because the people that they feel a close bond with the people. Jack might not have a family so instead of staying at home each night he goes to the bar. He might view these people as his undeclared family. These are the people he sees everynight and spends his time with. As for the people who do have families they could use this a down time and a time to relax. A time to get away from there home life and be someone else other then a father or husband.
